Promoting the Kindness We All Need

We are pleased to announce the 2022 Hexagon Theme of Kindness, at a time when we all could use a bit of hope and gentleness. Hexagon Director Beth Burkhauser announced this theme during the 2021 Recognition Event held online on September 12. Here is what Beth had to say about the theme.

Educators may want to use the short video referenced above in the classroom to introduce the 2022 Theme and Project of Kindness. And we have also compiled a list of other resources that we hope will spark some ideas on how to generate conversations and inspire students to not only create Kindness hexagons, but to spread kindness in everyday life. Please be sure to check out all of the great resources available on our Forms and Resources page.

If you or your students are not quite sure how to get started or could use some visual inspiration, check out a slide show of hexagons from 2021 and enjoy this video of 2021 hexagons set to music.

“Untitled” by Alyssa23353 in Grade 5 at Lincoln Heights Elementary School from 2020 touched upon a theme related to Kindness. Look through past Hexagons for some inspiration with your students in the gallery at Artsonia.

We hope you will join us for this light and hopeful theme in 2022 and help spread kindness! May it be a healthy year of interconnectedness. The deadline for submission is June 30; please upload your work to www.artsonia.com.

Please message Beth at beth@hexagonproject.org if you have any additions or suggestions for kindness project resources, or would like to work on an exhibition or collaboration.
